In planning the new MAV – Museo Archeologico di Villamaina modern digital technologies were involved to make the tour engaging and enjoyable to all kinds of visitors. Moreover, it suits all visitors with special needs.
Inside the rooms, visitors can use touch screens to better understand each topic, accessible both in a traditional form and in 3D cartoons with voice narration.
The mobile app MAV Paolino Macchia is available on the main online store and helps visitors to be oriented inside the exhibition. This app lets you choose between Italian and English contents and leads you through the four rooms of the museum, discovering insights about the finds exhibited through text, photo gallery, audio tracks, sign language and 3D models. The app lets you first visit the museum remotely.
The tactile path is located in the first room to the left of the entrance and it accurately reproduces a series of archaeological finds of the museum. The artworks were scanned by a 3D state-of-the-art laser to create a digital reproduction of each object, optimized and prepared for the FDM print (Fusion Deposited Material) of plastic material. It resulted in a 1:1 scale reproduction of the finds, enjoyable to blind visitors, people with visual impairment but also all who love understanding finds exhibited here with a direct touch, living a tactile experience. Visitors with sensory deficit can use other tools equipped for them: captions in Braille, audio tracks and sign language video.
